The hex geometry allows you to use a wrench when tightening a Swiveljet coolant line into position. The hex allows for a tighter connection because you can use a wrench to apply more torque on the fittings. This style is popular with fixed installations, higher pressure applications and for the SW1 lines, as they are a larger diameter.
